Big Daddy Jay's Japanese Braised Pork Belly
Ingredients
1.5 pound pork belly
1 cup water
1 cup mirin
1/2 cup soy
2 tablespoons ginger paste
1/4 cup sugar
2 green onion
Begin by scoring the skin of the pork belly. Place pork belly in preheated skillet. Combine the remainder of the ingredients minus the green onion in a bowl and whisk. Pour sauce over pork belly and add green onion. Braise in oven at 400 degrees for 3 hours. Then turn on the broiler to low and broil for an additional 20-30 minutes or when top has properly browned. Add water as necessary. Slice thin and serve with rice. Enjoy!
